The cousins have returned home to Sweden and it is back to the routine here. It was a wonderful and inspiring week. It is always great to look at your city through the eyes of guests who have not seen it before.

Today I went to the annual Macy's Flower Show. The theme was the Secret Garden. The colors and scent of the flowers was extremely pleasant. It was a great time as I went with two wonderful friends. We topped off the afternoon with lunch and a piece of Frango Mint Pie.
I took one photograph that would be fun to make into a small wall hanging. The door and key to the Secret Garden.

This would be a good thing to do with scraps |
Some fun mod colors |
Great use of neutrals. Remind me of a hobo quilt pattern.
Summer fun |
This is a real 1930's pansy pattern
Two inch squares. |
Using textures is something I have not tried, but would be fun to learn.
I have some sock monkey fabric to use. This would work well. |

I am catching up on things this morning. Cleaning, hoping to start a quilt and just doing a few things around the house.
I am especially inspired after a three day visit with a friend of mine from grade school. We reconnected a few years ago and Gayle came to visit last Weds.
There were so many things that we did in Chicago. A Fashion Exhibit at the Chicago History Museum, The Flower and Garden Show, a tour of my neighborhood and a foray through Eatly. We had some great meals and wonderful conversations.
Gayle told me about the new kitchen she designed in her house, her 24 x 24 summer cabin, her trips to Disney and Bangladesh and her adventure ziplining. There is just one catch. Gayle is blind.
Nothing stops her. I call her the unstoppable Gayle. I have no excuse in the world for not getting things done.
It was an amazing time and now I can't wait to see her part of the country.

It was quilting day today. Just two of us getting together, but we were very productive and had alot of fun.

A real learning experience
Wow. Today with a good friend sitting beside me and holding my hand, I believe I finally have a handle on dealing with my new blog. Looking forward to meeting lots of new bloggers and learning many new things about quilts, books and other things.
